Countdown to the Wheelbarrow Race

About the Scarecrow Festival

Once again we expect to see hundreds of scarecrows and thousands of people in the village throughout the weekend and the period leading up to it. The aim of the Scarecrow Festival is to promote our village, have great fun and raise funds for sport and recreation in our community.

What's Happening?

The format of the 2018 Festival will be similar to previous years. Scarecrows will be displayed from Sunday 1 July, creating a great atmosphere in the village. The Wheelbarrow Race will be held on the Friday 13th, with the Grand Fete at Bridge Street Recreation Ground on the following Saturday and Sunday afternoons, not forgetting Scarecrow Rocks on the Saturday evening. At the Grand Fete there will be a packed programme of events, activities, music and stalls and a chance to see fellow villagers. The arena on the Saturday afternoon will see the hilarious and deadly Wheelie Bin Races and other similar competitions, plus a falcon display. On Sunday, as well as all the regular entertainment and stalls, there will be the fun dog show and a chance for owners to show and test their dog’s agility.
